The Forest

Respecting the Forest

The New Forest is a wonderful place to hold an event with its rolling roads, little traffic and roaming animals. It is really important to us at Challenging Events that we respect the New Forest and all that use it. We are guests in the forest and we need to minimise the impact of our event on the local inhabitants - both human and animal.

We have designed the event to comply with the New Forest Cycling Code and Charter. Our event has also been registered with the Safety Advisory Group.

All entrants must read and observe the Highway Code AND the New Forest Cycling Code.

DO NOT DROP LITTER in the New Forest National Park! Keep all used gel wrappers and bottles with you until you can bin them at the aid stations. Drop zone is 10m either side of the drinks station.

On footpaths you do not have exclusive right of way – watch out for walkers/riders, etc.

Please give due respect to horse riders – many horses do not react well to runners – give a wide berth and if approaching from behind, let them know you are there!

We want to protect The New Forest for generations to come and continue to be able to hold events here so please help us in doing so.
